Stephen T. Steckel, age 52 of Dubuque, IA, passed away Monday, July 15 at The University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA. He was born December 10, 1971, in Carrollton, IL, the son of Lawrence (Sam) Steckel and Patricia (Pat) Steckel.
He is survived by his brothers Larry Steckel (Sandy) of Medina, TN and Greg Steckel (Cindy) of Sherrard, IL, two nieces Elizabeth Steckel and Gina Steckel and a nephew Sam Steckel.
Steve was a graduate of St. John's Grade School and Carrollton High School in Carrollton, IL, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Steve chose a career in engineering where he worked for several companies mostly on HVAC units on large livestock confinement buildings across four continents. Most recently he was a Senior Mechanical Engineer for RFA working on John Deere heavy construction equipment.
He enjoyed getting back to the home farm in Carrollton to hunt deer and turkey with family. He was an avid sports fan with football being his favorite college (Notre
