Henrietta Shafer Carrollton - Henrietta Lou (Willis) Shafer of Carrollton, IL age 88 died at Boyd Hospital on July 22, 2024. She was born January 23, 1936, east of Kane, Jersey County, Illinois in the country farm home of her Parents, Ralph C. and Wilma Bernice (Eads) Willis. About 1938 they moved to a farm home in Linder Township, Greene County, IL. In 1940 the family purchased a farm in Kane Township, and she resided there until 1954. Henrietta went to White Oak Grade School for 8 years and graduated from Greenfield Community High School as valedictorian of her class of 1954. In November 1954 she began work in the Law Office of Gilbert K. Hutchens as legal secretary until the middle 1960s. May 2nd, 1958, she and Thomas R. Shafer were married at Carrollton First Baptist Church by Rev. Glenn Manis, and they became residents of Carrollton and members of First Baptist Church where she was church treasurer and played the piano for the primary children in Sunday School.
